About the Role:
As an Outpatients Senior Call Handler, you will be at the forefront of patient care, ensuring that appointments for routine, urgent, suspected cancer, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) services are managed efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
Patient Liaison: Provide a customer-focused booking service, ensuring patients receive relevant information in a timely and accurate manner.
Data Management: Capture and maintain accurate patient data using Trust information systems, ensuring compliance with national and local protocols.
Appointment Coordination: Negotiate and manage appointments, prioritising patient needs and maintaining adherence to waiting time targets.
Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise in the outpatient clinics, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Use CareFlow PAS for data entry and management.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) and 18-week RTT targets.
Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
Maintain confidentiality in line with current legislation and Trust policies.
Support new staff through training and mentoring.
Who We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience: A background in customer care or office administration, preferably within a healthcare environment but not essential.
Skills: Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
Attributes: A compassionate approach to patient care, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
