Are you a Teacher, Teaching Assistant or LSA tired of the classroom environment, but still want to continue teaching and supporting young people? Then you need to consider our 1:1 Outreach Tutor roles.
At 1st Staff, we work closely with Local Authorities (Virtual Schools and SEN teams) to provide specialist 1:1 tuition and therapeutic support. Our tutors deliver tuition sessions in learner’s homes, local libraries or community centres, rather than in a typical classroom environment! This allows our tutors and young people to build a meaningful rapport which encourages high levels of engagement.
We are currently searching for Outreach Tutors in the Braintree area. Multiple positions are available, and hiring is ongoing to meet the wide variety of needs we support.
Position Details
•Location: Face to face in a Child’s home, local library, or community centre
•Role: 1:1 Tutor
•Hours: Part-time or full-time
oMost referrals are 10-15 hours per week
oFull-time tutors typically support multiple students
•Start Date: ASAP
•Subjects: English and Maths
It is essential our tutors are passionate, patient and dedicated to supporting young people in overcoming barriers, instilling confidence and helping them bridge gaps in their learning.
Experience Required
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN / SEMH needs
* Ability to plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons
* A flexible, supportive, and student-centred approach
* Ability to complete lesson reports and provide detailed feedback on the young person’s progress
* Excellent communication skills
