Job Description

We are seeking a Paint Technician to work on the production of lifeboats.

This role covers prepping, painting, filling and fairing GRP/composite components to a high, consistent standard in a production environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Sanding, abrading and cleaning GRP/composite surfaces
  • Accurate masking
  • Checking for and identifying minor imperfections before paint application
  • Applying primers, topcoats and marine grade coatings (brush, roller or spray)
  • Mixing/applying fillers to achieve the correct profile
  • Sanding and fairing surfaces smooth before final finishing
  • Ensuring high quality, consistent finishes

General Duties
  • Supporting production output and build schedules
  • Maintaining tools, equipment and workspace
  • Following all health & safety procedures including correct PPE and chemical handling

Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in marine, automotive, aerospace or similar finishing industries
  • Competent in prepping, painting, filling and fairing
  • GRP/composite experience is advantageous
  • Strong eye for detail and quality workmanship

Rates & contract info
  • PAYE -£16.00 - £17.50 per hour
  • Holiday Pay - £1.93 - £2.11 per hour (can be accrued or advanced)
  • Umbrella Company - £21.43 - £23.44 per hour
  • 6 month contract (long term sick cover)
  • 42 hour week as standard
