SALARY: £24,796 per annum FTE / Actual Annual Salary £20,116 per annum + Benefits
LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.00pm, Term Time only (39 weeks)

As part of an exciting phase of growth, the organisation is seeking a committed and compassionate Pastoral Mentor / Student Support Worker to join its secondary education team. With a strong focus on safeguarding, student wellbeing and inclusion, this is a rewarding opportunity within a supportive academy environment.
The Pastoral Mentor / Student Support Worker will work closely with Year Heads and the wider pastoral care team to provide mentoring, early intervention and behaviour management support. You will play a key role in promoting positive student progress and personal development.
As a Pastoral Mentor / Student Support Worker you will build trusted relationships, support emotional wellbeing and contribute to a safe, inclusive school community where every learner can thrive.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Pastoral Mentor / Student Support Worker include:
Student Support: Provide individualised support and guidance on academic, social, emotional and behavioural issues
Attendance Monitoring: Monitor student attendance, punctuality and overall wellbeing
Behaviour Management: Manage student behaviour within the year group in line with school policies
Mentoring: Deliver one-to-one mentoring to build confidence, resilience and self-esteem
Early Intervention: Identify emerging concerns and implement appropriate support strategies
Parental Liaison: Maintain regular communication with parents and carers regarding student progress and wellbeing
Agency Collaboration: Liaise with teachers, support staff and external agencies to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach
Year Group Support: Work collaboratively with the Year Head to ensure the smooth running of the year group and deputise in their absence
Curriculum Contribution: Contribute to the development and implementation of year group curriculum plans
Policy Development: Support the development and implementation of year group policies and procedures
Data Analysis: Analyse student data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Meetings and Reporting: Attend pastoral meetings and contribute to reports and documentation relating to student progress and wellbeing
General Duties: Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope of the post
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
A genuine interest in the welfare and development of young people
Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and listening skills
Patient, empathetic and reliable individual with a positive and caring approach
Strong advocate for safeguarding and promoting the well-being of children
Team player with a collaborative approach and a commitment to confidentiality
Have experience working with young people in a pastoral care setting (desirable but not essential)
