As a Pastry Junior Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and service within our Pastry kitchen. You will uphold and demonstrate a strong professional knowledge of all aspects related to your role and operations. Your responsibilities will encompass maintaining the kitchen areas to Shangri-La standards, adhering to food safety and HACCP protocols, and ensuring compliance with our current IMS policies and procedures throughout the hotel.
Who are we?
The Shangri-La Hotel London is located in the Shard, Western Europes tallest building. We are the first elevated luxury hotel in the city, bringing our roots in Asian hospitality to the West. Our hotel offers 202 guestrooms and suites located throughout levels 34 & 52 of The Shard; with unparalleled views across London, the hotel features several signature dining venues & three river-facing event spaces. Located in London's most historic area, the hotel is nearby the financial hubs of the City and Canary Wharf as well as key tourist attractions such as Tate Modern, the Tower of London, St. Pauls Cathedral, Shakespeare's Globe and Borough Market.
What are we looking for?
Experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role.
Strong knowledge of pastry and bakery techniques.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
Excellent attention to detail and creativity in pastry preparation and presentation.
Familiarity with food safety and HACCP guidelines. Knowledge of Shangri-La's culinary standards is a plus.
Culinary degree or equivalent qualification is preferred.
Knowledge of food cost & labour cost.
Currently be working in a 5* hotel or similar environment.
Be motivated & a self-starter.
