The Street Bakeshop is an award winning Artisan Bakery in Old Basing. We are passionate about making fantastic, cakes, pastry, viennoiserie and bread. We bake from scratch, naturally leavened breads and pastries, cakes and make outstanding coffee, keeping our customers delighted and excited with fantastic service and produce. We are in need of a Pastry Sous Chef to work alongside the Head of Pastry and Executive Baker/Owner in creating and making world class pastry, tarts, cakes and confectionary. Skills needed: Passionate for all things pastry and proven expertise in a variety of pastry techniques: laminated doughs, entremets, tarts, creams, cakes, custards, and chocolate work. Strong understanding of ingredients, allergen awareness, and product shelf life. Use internal tools like Cybake, Planday to communicate effectively across teams. Good awareness of Microsoft Office. Experience in a supervisory or senior pastry chef role within a bakery or pastry kitchen. Capable of motivating and guiding a team, with a positive and professional approach helping to always reinforce the Bakeshop vision and values. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Passionate, creative, dependable and calm under pressure. Approachable, communicative, and team oriented. Job details: Support the Head of Pastry in planning and executing the daily and weekly production schedule. Maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and presentation across all pastry items. Act as lead in the Head of Pastrys absence, ensuring continued smooth operation. Prepare a wide range of pastries, baked goods, and desserts, both classic and innovative. Assist with accurate recipe implementation and documentation for seasonal and regular product lines Monitor and uphold best practices in food hygiene and kitchen safety. Assist in sourcing ingredients with quality and price in mind ensuring we receive the quality required at the best possible price Conduct regular stock checks and support inventory reporting. Assist in managing stock levels and ordering ingredients in line with production needs. Mentor junior pastry chefs and apprentices, providing on-the-job training and guidance. Help onboard new team members, ensuring alignment with kitchen standards and culture. Foster a collaborative and respectful kitchen environment that continually strives for better quality. Collaborate with front-of-house and retail teams to support product flow and customer satisfaction. Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with the admin team to ensure smooth production and early notice of any issues that may affect customers or production efficiency A driving licence is an advantage due to the location but it is possible to walk from Basingstoke train station.
