A top tier global consultancy firm is seeking a Payments Solution / Migration Architect to spearhead a high-stakes transition of their core transaction engine. You will essentially be the primary architect bridging the gap between legacy mainframe foundations and modern target platforms.
This ideal candidate for this role will be someone who understands the granular detail of how a message moves from a gateway to clearing and settlement. You will own the end-to-end data architecture, defining the extraction strategies and migration controls required to move massive datasets without ever disrupting live payment processing. Acting as the technical authority, you will navigate complex legacy environments, reconciling undocumented system behaviours with pragmatic, executable design solutions.
Essential Skills
UK Payment Rails: Expert-level BACS & Faster Payments (FPS). Global Messaging: SWIFT & SEPA mastery, including ISO 20022 (MT/MX). Mainframe Core: IBM DB2 specialist (Query Optimisation, Partitioning, Archiving). Data Migration: Hands-on Extraction, Mapping, and Lineage for high-throughput systems. Risk & Governance: CASS or CISA-aligned assurance and control frameworks. Legacy Modernisation: Bridging MQ/Mainframe layers to modern target platforms.London-based | 2 days in the office per week | £600 to £800 a day Inside IR35
