Payroll Officer

A new opportunity has arisen to join a fantastic company in the Healthcare sector who are looking for a Payroll Officer on a permanent basis. The role is to work in a team of 6 processing payroll on behalf of a nationwide network of hospitals, clinics and specialist services. They are dedicated to delivering exceptional care - and none of that is possible without the people behind the scenes who keep their organisation running smoothly.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership of full end‑to‑end payroll processing, including:

Managing starters, leavers, contractual changes and personal detail updates
Processing statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.)
Administering pension changes, opt‑ins/opt‑outs and employee requests
Managing salary sacrifice arrangements and ensuring National Living Wage compliance
Processing hours worked, allowances, bonuses and other pay elements
Applying deductions in line with regulatory requirements
Monitoring pay cycles for potential NLW breaches
Reviewing payroll data to identify and resolve inconsistencies or errors
Investigating and reporting overpayments/underpayments with supporting evidence
Ensuring all payrolls have correct local authorisation
Processing supplementary payments with appropriate documentation
Ensuring any manual payments made outside the cycle are correctly captured in the next run

What we're looking for

Competent user of Microsoft Office - in particular Excel (V-Lookups/Pivot Tables)
Experience using Workday
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Confident written communication, including report writing
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
Strong problem‑solving and information‑gathering skills
Adaptability and a proactive approach

Successful candidates will be required to complete relevant background checks.
