Role: Pensions Systems & Administration Analyst

Location: London - 1 x day per week onsite

Duration: 12 months

Rate: £500 per day (Inside IR35)


Are you an experienced pensions professional with strong analytical and systems skills? This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward‑thinking in‑house pensions team, supporting the smooth running of pensioner and employee payrolls, system enhancements, project work, and ongoing scheme administration.


The Role

In this varied and technical role, you’ll support both BAU administration and a wide range of scheme projects. You’ll play a key part in ensuring accurate payroll processing, data integrity, system improvements, and reporting. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining pensions knowledge with data analysis and system support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the processing of monthly pensioner and employee payroll files, ensuring member records are updated accurately and all reconciliations and data extracts are completed.
  • Assist with data projects and scheme event reporting, including benefit statement production, GMP equalisation work, scheme data extracts, and the annual pensioner increase exercise.
  • Maintain and develop the UK pension administration system (Altair), including workflows, benefit calculations, member records, template letters, and software updates.
  • Provide ongoing support to wider pension projects, producing management information and contributing to improvements across day‑to‑day administration processes.
  • Handle large data sets with accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.


Essential skills & experience

  • Good knowledge of UK pension arrangements with the ability to undertake manual benefit calculations.
  • Experience working with large volumes of personal data.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, with VBA skills.
  • Experience using Altair (Heywood) or a comparable pension administration system for DB and DC records.
  • Highly analytical, detail‑oriented, and numerate.
  • Able to work independently in a predominantly home‑based role while maintaining a strong team focus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a flexible, solutions‑focused mindset.


Desirable skills

  • Advanced SQL report‑writing experience.
  • Familiarity with Power BI for dashboards and analytics.
  • Previous experience supporting pension system development and configuration.
