Job Description
A client within the Public Sector , based in Staffordshire , is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer (Enforcement) to join their Planning Services – Enforcement Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis , with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority planning enforcement environment .
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To provide professional planning and enforcement advice and to recommend decisions on planning enforcement matters in line with Council policy, legislation, and corporate objectives, with a particular focus on delivering the aims of the Enforcement Team.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Providing sound professional advice on planning enforcement, legislation, policy, and guidance
• Investigating and managing a varied caseload of planning enforcement complaints
• Preparing and serving enforcement-related notices including Enforcement Notices, Stop Notices, Breach of Condition Notices, and Planning Contravention Notices
• Preparing reports and presenting recommendations to committees, hearings, inquiries, and the Courts where required
• Undertaking site visits, monitoring breaches, and maintaining accurate records on planning systems
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A relevant degree in Planning (or equivalent)
• Eligibility for chartered membership of the RTPI or a recognised qualification in planning enforcement with substantial enforcement experience
• Demonstrable experience dealing with planning enforcement cases within a local authority
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing
• Ability to manage a complex caseload and work to deadlines
• Experience working with elected Members, developers, agents, and the public
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £54 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (Approx. £44 per hour PAYE)
