Plant Manager - Piling & Heavy Plant Operations
Overview
We are currently supporting a leading specialist contractor in the search for an experienced Plant Manager to oversee piling plant, rigs, and heavy machinery operations on a key site in Burscough.
This is a hands-on, technically focused role requiring a strong background in plant maintenance, heavy machinery coordination, and site-based operational support within a piling or civil engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee management, maintenance, and availability of piling rigs and heavy plant * Coordinate with site teams to ensure plant is allocated efficiently across live projects * Support mobilisation, breakdowns, servicing, and repairs of specialist equipment * Act as key link between site operations, engineers, and mechanical teams * Ensure plant compliance, inspections, and safety standards are maintained * Manage subcontract mechanics and service providers where required * Support planning of plant requirements for ongoing and upcoming works * Maintain accurate records of plant utilisation, downtime, and maintenance schedules
Candidate Requirements
* Strong background in plant management, heavy machinery, or mechanical operations * Experience within piling, civil engineering, or construction environments preferred * Good understanding of piling rigs, excavators, and specialist construction plant * Strong coordination and problem-solving skills on live sites * Mechanical/engineering background highly desirable * Ability to work closely with site and project teams in a fast-paced environment
