Plumber South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust Location: Maudsley Hospital, SE5 8AZ Band 5: £18.39 per hour (enhanced rate at weekends) Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30 (37.5 hours per week) South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and reliable Plumber to support the delivery of essential estates maintenance services across its healthcare estate. This role will involve working across a diverse portfolio of clinical and non-clinical buildings, supporting the Trust’s Hard FM services and ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operation of critical plumbing infrastructure. Role Overview You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of plumbing and pipework systems across Trust sites, ensuring full compliance with NHS standards, HTM guidance, Water Regulations, and Health & Safety legislation. Duties will include Legionella monitoring, servicing thermostatic mixing valves, inspecting calorifiers, temperature monitoring, fault diagnosis, and planned preventative maintenance. You will work independently and as part of a wider estates team, delivering a high standard of workmanship within live clinical environments. The role will involve travel between Trust properties and occasional flexibility beyond normal working hours. Key Responsibilities - Installation, maintenance, and modification of hot and cold water systems, heating pipework, drainage, and specialist healthcare services - Legionella checks and water hygiene management in accordance with ACoP L8 and HTM guidance (Information on HTM specification is found on NHS England's Estates website - Servicing TMVs, inspecting calorifiers, and monitoring system temperatures - Fault diagnosis, repairs, refurbishment works, and system upgrades - Planned preventative maintenance across Trust properties - Accurate completion of work records and compliance documentation -Working safely in clinical environments, adhering to infection control and H&S procedures Essential Skills & Experience - NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent) - Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience - Knowledge of domestic and commercial heating systems - Familiarity with HTMs and relevant practises - Competent with copper, plastic, and iron pipework installations - Ability to work unsupervised and manage workload effectively - Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills - Full UK driving licence (desirable) This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience.
