Job Title: Power System Design Lead

Location: South East England, Isle of Wight, Cowes

Job Type: Contract, expected to work Full-Time hours (2 days per week on site)

Job Duties:

Lead the design and development of power systems for engineering projects
Provide technical expertise and guidance on power system design requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery
Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies for power system designs
Stay updated on industry trends and best practises in power system design

Additional Role Requirements:

•    A solid understanding of radar operation, in particular Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars.
•    A solid understanding of the digital techniques design process including requirements generation, design and implementation. Knowledge of complex digital PCB design. Knowledge of digital devices in particular FPGAs.
•    An understanding of all electronic disciplines (digital, analogue, RF and electrical) Enough knowledge to be able to specify against these technologies and communicate with specialists in these areas.
•    Experience in the whole design process from requirements to design assurance and sign off.
•    Experience in sub-system and system integration and test.
•    Experience in radar system data analysis.
•    Trials experience, at base or in territory.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Proven experience in power system design and development
Demonstrated leadership skills in leading design teams

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system design and development

Knowledge and Skills:

Strong understanding of power system principles and components
Early lifecycle involvement - contribute to product development, lifecycle, and qualification.
Switch-mode power supply design and integration.
Take a holistic view of power distribution across the system.
Appreciation of methods, techniques, and technologies for AC/DC conversion and distribution, understand challenges in distributing power and designing power modules.
Office presence: ca. 2 days; more on site during prototype build (H1 this year).
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Professional certification in power system design

Working Conditions:

This role is based in South East England, Isle of Wight, Cowes. The work environment may involve exposure to engineering labs and project sites. The position may require occasional travel for project meetings and collaborations
