We are currently recruiting a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist primary provision in South Gloucestershire. This is a full-time temporary position supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on Autism (ASC).

This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting primary-aged children with SEN who is passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning in a structured and supportive setting.

About the Setting

This specialist provision supports Key Stage 2 pupils (Years 3-6) who have a range of additional needs including:

Autism (ASC)
SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
ADHD
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)Many pupils also experience academic delay of between 1-4 years, so the environment is highly supportive, therapeutic and focused on building confidence and engagement in learning.

Classes are intentionally small (maximum of six pupils) and are supported by one or two Teaching Assistants alongside the class teacher, allowing staff to provide consistent, personalised support.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ASC and additional needs
Support the teacher with structured learning activities and classroom routines
Help pupils with emotional regulation, engagement and communication
Encourage positive behaviour, independence and social development
Work collaboratively with teaching staff to create a safe, calm and supportive learning environmentRequirements

The ideal candidate will:

Have experience supporting children with Autism (ASC) in a primary or SEN setting
Be patient, resilient and adaptable
Have experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as SEMH, ADHD or SLCN
Be confident working in a small specialist classroom environment
Be passionate about supporting pupils with complex needsWorking Hours

Monday: 8:15am - 4:00pm
Tuesday: 8:15am - 4:30pm
Wednesday: 8:15am - 5:00pm
Thursday: 8:15am - 4:00pm
