Principal Electrical Engineer – Data Centres - Bristol


Data Centres are a vital part of modern infrastructure. Our client supports organisations in designing, optimising and future-proofing these facilities to be resilient, cost-effective and energy efficient — while playing an active role in the transition to a zero-carbon economy.


They are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide technical, commercial and strategic leadership across complex Data Centre projects internationally, based from their Bristol office.

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will hold a senior leadership role within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, working closely with sustainability consultants, building physicists, BIM specialists and wider engineering disciplines.


You will be responsible for:

  • Leading electrical design delivery across Data Centre projects from feasibility through to completion
  • Setting technical direction and ensuring robust, compliant and future-ready electrical solutions
  • Providing leadership and mentorship to electrical and MEP teams across multiple projects
  • Managing project delivery, financial performance and senior client relationships
  • Driving sustainable, low-carbon and net-zero aligned electrical design strategies
  • Supporting work-winning activities, client engagement and strategic growth within the Data Centre sector
  • Championing digital innovation, automation and integrated design approaches


You will have:

  • A degree in Electrical, Building Services or Architectural Engineering
  • Chartered Engineer status (IET, CIBSE or equivalent)
  • Significant experience leading Data Centre electrical design and delivery
  • Strong technical authority across electrical building systems and infrastructure
  • Proven leadership of multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants
  • A clear commitment to sustainable, low-carbon design
