Key Responsibilities
The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will oversee mechanical design for a wide range of projects, including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare sectors.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Develop detailed mechanical designs, specifications, drawings, and schedules using the latest design tools and technologies.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated MEP solutions that enhance building performance and sustainability.
Conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, and produce technical reports.
The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
Ensure designs meet environmental and energy efficiency targets, supporting sustainability goals.
Liaise directly with clients, attend design meetings, and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Drive innovation in mechanical systems design, including HVAC, public health, and renewable technologies.
Experience & Knowledge
Extensive experience in mechanical building services design within consultancy or contracting environments.
Strong understanding of CIBSE guidelines, Building Regulations, and British Standards.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM processes.
Knowledge of sustainable design principles and energy modeling.
The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer should have experience managing large-scale, complex projects.
Education & Skills
Degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
