Due to continued growth, my client is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their experienced MEP team in Winchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior building services professional to lead mechanical design on a diverse range of projects across the residential, healthcare, education, commercial, and regeneration sectors.
The Role
You will lead mechanical services design, manage project delivery, and work closely with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions. The role includes technical leadership, project oversight, and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design and act as project engineer
Manage and review the work of engineers and specialists
Engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver project requirements
Produce designs, calculations, reports, and specifications across RIBA stages
Use CAD/BIM (ideally Revit) and design tools such as Hevacomp and IES
Ensure compliance with regulations, QA standards, and health & safety requirements
Advise on energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction
Mentor and support junior engineers and apprentices
About You
Significant experience in mechanical/building services design
Relevant degree or equivalent qualification (HNC/HND or higher)
Chartered Engineer (CEng)
Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
