Principal Process Engineer (Water)
Working Location: UK (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead process design across major water and wastewater projects
- Oversee process design outputs to ensure safety, quality, and compliance
- Review and approve technical deliverables, reports, and specifications
- Develop practical and efficient design solutions from project scope and site data
- Lead and support engineers and graduates within the team
- Check and approve calculations including mass balances, hydraulic profiles, and system sizing
- Support development of process flow diagrams, control philosophies, and commissioning strategies
- Ensure designs align with industry and regulatory standards
- Manage design changes and ensure accurate documentation
- Support planning and estimation of design activities
- Participate in HAZOPs and technical review meetings
- Provide technical input into tenders and project delivery
Requirements:
- Strong background in process design within the UK water sector
- Experience across wastewater treatment and process design delivery
- Understanding of clean water and wastewater systems
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
- Experience with HAZOP studies (chairing beneficial)
- Strong technical, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
- Degree, HND, or equivalent experience
- Full UK driving licence
