Join to apply for the Principal Quantity Surveyor (CI&U - PMCM) role at WSP.Role responsibilitiesYou will play a pivotal role in pre- and post-contract Quantity Surveying (QS) or Cost & Commercial Management services to our clients, including estimating, cost planning, procurement, cost assurance, and post-contract financial/commercial management of projects ranging in size and complexity.Depending on seniority and experience you could be involved in delivering QS/commercial projects, leading a QS/commercial team, training and mentoring staff, bid writing, winning work, people leadership and management, and representing WSP UK at industry events.You will join a diverse, growing team of Quantity Surveyors, Cost Managers and Commercial Managers, and other related professionals who work across multiple sectors.You will be part of our Project Management and Commercial Management Team (PMCM) – made up of approximately 400 colleagues across the UK. This team provides Quantity Surveying/Cost and Commercial Management, Programme and Project Management and Project Controls services to deliver Building and Infrastructure projects for public and private clients. You will be within one of our four groups - Civil Infrastructure and Utilities; other groups are Property and Buildings, Programme Solutions, and Rail.You will be based in one of our Northern regional offices at Stockton-on-Tees, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Leeds or Manchester.What we’re looking forEssentialMRICS or Assoc RICS or working towards a professional qualificationExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsDemonstrable knowledge, ability and experience around QS/Cost and Commercial competenciesWhere applicable, demonstrable management, project leadership and delivery experience at senior levelDesirableStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detailAdaptable and flexible approach to workloadAlternative or relevant professional qualification or working towards (e.g. CICES, APM, AcostE)Experience in Quantity Surveying or Cost and Commercial Management in the public sector and/or on heavy industry projectsAbility to travel to site, client/project team offices, other WSP offices, and project locationsPassion for making a difference and being part of a dynamic teamDegree or equivalent higher education qualificationStrong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environmentWillingness to challenge the status quo and learn from past experiencesFamiliarity with CostX, CEMAR, NEC Contracts and other industry standard forms of contractAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholdersPrevious QS/Cost and Commercial Management experience in a consultant, contractor, or client organisation, in sectors such as Highways, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Petrochemical, Process Engineering and EnergyDon’t quite meet all the criteria?
