\n \n What You’ll Be Doing:\n
As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and analysis of complex steel structures that support submarine builds. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring our projects meet the highest standards.
\n \n
\n
\nAnalyze and Design: Work with Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to create robust steel structures.
\n
\nRegulatory Knowledge: Utilize your understanding of regulations like LOLER and weld specifications to enhance our compliance.
\n
\nTechnical Proficiency: Employ computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis and CAD modeling (Abaqus, S-Frame).
\n
\nSupport Manufacturing: Assist in the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation of submarine structures and components.
\n
\nConcept Development: Contribute to the production of concept drawings and technical outputs that align with contractual requirements.
\n
\nQuality Assurance: Take responsibility for approvals and checking analysis outputs.
\n
\n \n Your Skills and Experiences:\n
Essential:
\n
\n
Proven experience in structural calculations.
\n
Strong understanding of structural mechanics and dynamics.
\n
Experience in developing structural requirements and V&V evidence.
\n
Proficiency in using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software.
\n
Ability to present technical arguments clearly and effectively.
\n
Previous experience in checking and approving work.
\n
\n \n
Desirable:
\n
\n
Familiarity with Abaqus FEA and Simcenter, or a willingness to learn.
\n
Chartered Engineer status (or on the path to becoming Chartered).
\n
Experience in generating toolset/calculation templates.
\n

Join a dynamic dual-function team of around 14 professionals, where you’ll collaborate closely with design colleagues to deliver engineering assessments that support our build process. We also offer local commuting support and relocation packages, subject to eligibility criteria.
