Title: Principal Structural Engineer
Location: Derby

About The Role

  • Lead structural engineering design and review from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction
  • Champion technical quality, innovation and best-practice design standards across projects
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, supporting professional growth and chartership
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as the lead technical contact
  • Provide expert structural engineering advice across diverse sectors
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, transportation, geotechnical and environmental specialists
  • Promote and implement BIM workflows and efficiency in structural modelling and documentation

About You

Essential:

  • Typically 8+ years consultancy experience in UK structural engineering
  • Strong track record of leading complex building and infrastructure-related structural design
  • Proficient with structural analysis and design tools (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, STAAD, Robot / similar) and CAD/BIM packages (AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven leadership, project management and client engagement experience
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Desirable:

  • Experience working on large-scale or mixed-use developments
  • Experience within multidisciplinary consultancies
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering structural services for public sector frameworks or repeat-client work
