General Areas of Responsibility/nThe main duties are as follows:/n(a) teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction/n(b) developing the school curriculum/n(c) assessing, recording and reporting the work of pupils/n(d) preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration/n(e) providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education/n(f) promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils/n(g) working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals/n(h) undertaking appropriate and agreed Continuing Professional Development/n(i) participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review/n(j) contributing towards good order and the wider needs of the school/n /n /nSpecific Responsibilities/nAll Principal Teachers (Curriculum/Pastoral) have a responsibility to carry out the list of duties contained in Annex B of “A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century”:/n /n(a) responsibility for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of colleagues/n(b) curriculum development and quality assurance/n(c) contributing to the development of school policy in relation to the behaviour management of pupils/n(d) the management and guidance of colleagues/n(e) reviewing the CPD needs, career development and performance of colleagues/n(f) the provision of advice, support and guidance to colleagues/n(g) responsibility for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of pastoral care within the school/n(h) the development of school policy for the behaviour management of pupils/n(i) assisting in the management, deployment and development of pastoral care staff/n(j) implementation of whole school policies dealing with guidance issues, pastoral care, assessment and pupil welfare/n(k) working in partnership with colleagues, parents, other specialist agencies and staff in other schools as appropriateThe Individual(A relocation package of £5400 (exclusive of VAT) may be available for this post)/n/nThis post is considered to be a ‘Regulated Role’ under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. Under the Act it is a legal requirement for an individual undertaking a regulated role with children or protected adults to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. Therefore the successful candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to any formal offer of employment being made by Moray Council.
