Principal Test Solutions Engineer – Leonardo

Leonardo offers a permanent role for a Principal Test Solutions Engineer at our modern and purpose‑built Luton (Capability Green) site. The engineer will be involved in complex electronic (RF, digital and analogue based) test solutions, designing for the full life cycle and capturing requirements for test solutions or products.

Role

The role is within the Combat Air business group and supports the production test solution capability enhancement of the following products:

• Pretorian DASS
• At LRI and SRI levels

What You Will Do

• Work with experts in their field, using world‑class facilities to deliver designs that work beyond 40GHz and help form complex electronic test systems that meet challenging future customer requirements.
• Design and technical problem‑solving to test solution development.
• May involve travel across the UK or abroad for technical review.

You Really Must Have

• Good understanding of electronic technologies from DC to light or a good understanding of Systems/Software engineering lifecycle.
• Experience working with external suppliers and outsourcing complex work packages.
• Extensive knowledge in NI LabVIEW & TestStand.
• Degree qualified (or equivalent).
• Good problem‑solving ability.
• Good schedule and budget control.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Commercially aware.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong leadership competency and team working skills.
• Knowledge of engineering life cycle and business process.

It Would Be Nice If You Had

• Good understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM.
• Experience working in the defence electronics sector, ideally with airborne sensor systems.

Chartered Engineer status or membership of a professional engineering institution.
