Producibility Manufacturing Engineering Manager Defence

Responsibilities
Lead the Manufacturing Engineering activity for Defence Mature programs across EJ200, TP400, MT30, Adour programs, coordinating with the Chief Design engineers and the Chief Component engineers. Act as Technical Authority, ensuring the capability of the method of production to produce product conforming to design definition, and ensuring resolution of technical issues to meet safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time (SQCD).
Build external relationships – Manage, develop and maintain effective relationships within the internal and external supply chain, ensuring requirements are understood and maximised.
Create strategy – Lead the strategy to ensure Defence Mature Programs components meet zero‑defect goals and enable smooth new product introduction and reactivations across the portfolio.
Develop capability – Buy‑off the production readiness of new manufacturing capabilities or methods of manufacture on behalf of Defence Design Engineering.
Develop talent – Work with Design Engineering to ensure Design for Manufacture is implemented across component and system design teams.
Agreed FAIR buy‑off across design and manufacturing engineering.
Support Assembly and Test – Resolve operational problems and coordinate with Design Engineering on long‑term, robust solutions.
Product Safety – Ensure product safety risks are understood and mitigated to meet required safety levels, champion product safety culture and embed learning within the supply chain.
Quality – Promote a culture of zero defects; ensure manufacturing processes and methods support Right‑First‑Time manufacture.
Coach the community in the use of RRPS, DMAIC and Systems Engineering tools and ensure compliance with relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards.
Qualifications
Engineering degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering disciplines.
Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
DFM and DFX experience.
Preferred Requirements
Knowledge of component design processes.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements for a Design Organisation.
System engineering toolset and ability to apply root cause analysis techniques.
