Title: Product Design Engineer

Duration: 12 Months of Contract

Location: Basingstoke, UK

Job Description:

• This role is essentially about owning and driving engineering design changes across a product’s lifecycle while coordinating multiple stakeholders.
• You would lead technical projects involving mechanical updates, supplier changes, and product improvements, ensuring all changes follow formal engineering change processes and meet safety, legal, and quality standards.
• The job requires acting as the technical authority—defining specifications, developing design concepts, and validating them through testing and prototyping.
• At the same time, you’d collaborate closely with internal teams (manufacturing, quality, project management) and external partners (suppliers, customers) to resolve technical issues, align on deliverables, and execute production trials.
• Additionally, you maintain accurate product data (like CAD models and bills of materials), communicate progress and outcomes to stakeholders, and identify opportunities for innovation, ensuring any new ideas are protected through intellectual property processes.

Requirement

• Must be a strong Creo/SolidWorks user.
• Preferably Windchill (Product Lifecycle Management) and Project Link (Project Management Platform) as well.
• Confident to layout assemblies based on a briefing, reference CAD and then to review it with stakeholders for feedback.
• Plastic Injection Moulding design.
• Design for (manual) Assembly (of consumer goods if possible).
• Experience in converting provided industrial design surface models into Technical Component CAD.
