Alexander Steele Recruitment is partnering with a long-established and respected food manufacturer to appoint an experienced Product Developer. This is a great opportunity for a technically capable and commercially minded individual to join a progressive NPD function and contribute to the development of innovative, customer-focused food solutions.

The Role

This position would suit a Product Developer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys balancing multiple projects, and works closely with commercial teams and customers. You’ll be responsible for developing new product applications, supporting sales activity, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a consistently high technical standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customer-led and internal development projects from initial brief through to launch
  • Plan and coordinate development workloads, ensuring priorities and timelines are met
  • Act as a technical point of contact for the commercial team, providing application support and customer insight
  • Create new formulations, concepts, and application ideas across a diverse product portfolio
  • Investigate ingredient functionality and identify opportunities for innovation and commercial growth
  • Contribute to project review meetings and ongoing improvements within NPD processes
  • Prepare and maintain application documentation, technical guidelines, and supporting data
  • Ensure all development work meets food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements


About You

We’re looking for a proactive and well-organised Product Developer with a strong technical foundation and hands-on development experience within food manufacturing.


You’ll ideally have

  • A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related subject
  • Previous experience in an NPD role within a food manufacturing environment
  • Strong formulation, problem-solving, and project management capabilities
  • The confidence to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external customers
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine enthusiasm for food innovation
