Location: South Cambridge
Reporting to: Head of Manufacturing
Role Overview
This is a hands-on Production Engineer role supporting the continued development of a production engineering function within a manufacturing environment. The position focuses on improving manufacturing efficiency, maintaining high quality standards, and supporting the release and manufacture of new products. The role involves close collaboration with production, supply chain, and R&D teams, as well as responsibility for tooling, equipment support, and technical drawing output.
The ideal candidate will also have some experience with CAD Design/SOLIDWORKS. The company can offer a competitive salary and a range of benefits.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support & Collaboration
Work closely with production, assembly, supply chain, and R&D teams to resolve manufacturing issues Support delivery capability for in-house manufactured products Manage production engineering projects and lead weekly engineering meetingsTooling, Equipment & Infrastructure
Design, implement, and project-manage jigs, fixtures, and tooling Liaise directly with suppliers when required Troubleshoot production equipment and infrastructure issues Maintain jigs and tools to ensure operational efficiency Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are in place and followed Manage and maintain 3D printing capabilitiesContinuous Improvement
Support continuous improvement initiatives Identify and implement productivity, quality, uptime, and profitability improvementsTechnical Drawings & Documentation
Produce 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks Support custom product requirements and liaise with customers when required Troubleshoot mechanical and electronic assemblies Support maintenance of product safety approvals and documentation Promote and comply with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirementsExperience & Skills
Minimum 5 years' experience in a production engineering role Experience using CAD software (SolidWorks or similar) Understanding of quality systems within manufacturing Experience with ERP and/or MRP systems Excellent organisation, planning, and time management skills Hands-on, adaptable, and solution-focused approach Able to work independently and as part of a teamSounds good, how do I apply?
