Job description\n \nTemporary Production & Glazing Operative\n– B11 Area, Birmingham\nPay: £13.00 per hour\n Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am - 4:30pm / Friday 7:30-13:30\nContract: Temporary to Permanent\n \nPertemps is looking for a Production & Glazing Operative, manufacturing company established in 1979, specialising in high-quality canal boat windows. Manufacture bespoke aluminium windows and also offer installation services to private boat owners.\n \n The Role\n \nSeeking a reliable and flexible temporary team member to join our production and glazing team. This role is to cover a period of long-term sickness for an existing employee.\n \nThe position is offered on a temporary basis, however there is potential for the role to become permanent, depending on business requirements and the long-term situation.\n \n This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys practical work, pays close attention to detail, and is happy to support multiple areas within a small, busy team.\n \n Main Duties & Responsibilities\n\nMaking and assembling double glazed units to order specification (experience desirable).\nWashing, handling, and quality checking glass, including shaped units.\nFollowing detailed works orders, including sizes, descriptions, and special customer requirements.\nUnpacking, checking, and correctly storing order-specific parts and stock.\nWrapping, packing, and preparing completed orders using picking lists.\nCarrying out daily visual quality inspections of incoming parts and outsourced products.\nMaintaining a quality log and reporting observations to managers and key personnel.\nKeeping production, glazing, and stock areas clean, tidy, and well organised.\nDriving a company van to local suppliers to collect materials and delivering completed customer orders.\nAdhering to all company procedures, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe working environment.Main Duties & Responsibilities\n\nMaking and assembling double glazed units to order specification (experience desirable).\nWashing, handling, and quality checking glass, including shaped units.\nFollowing detailed works orders, including sizes, descriptions, and special customer requirements.\nUnpacking, checking, and correctly storing order-specific parts and stock.\nWrapping, packing, and preparing completed orders using picking lists.\nCarrying out daily visual quality inspections of incoming parts and outsourced products.\nMaintaining a quality log and reporting observations to managers and key personnel.\nKeeping production, glazing, and stock areas clean, tidy, and well organised.\nDriving a company van to local suppliers to collect materials and delivering completed customer orders.\nAdhering to all company procedures, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe working environment.About You\n\nFlexible, reliable, and willing to undertake a wide range of duties.\nProfessional, positive attitude and able to work effectively within a small team.\nAble to manage your own workload and work efficiently to tight production schedules.\nPhysically fit, as the role involves lifting and moving glass and large components.\nStrong attention to detail with a tidy, organised approach.\nGood communication, organisational, and time-management skills.\nFluent English speaking and writing skills are essential.\nUses common sense and initiative.\nHonest, dependable, and eager to learn and develop new skills.\nFull UK driving licence essential.Experience\n\nExperience in manufacturing or production is desirable but not essential.\nExperience working with glass, glazing, or quality control is desirable but not essential.\nDouble glazed unit making experience is desirable.\nApplicants from carpentry or other hands-on trade backgrounds are encouraged to apply.\nFull training will be provided.\n To apply, please contact Natalie Boyle at Pertemps Birmingham Industrial or apply online today.
