Role Overview
TheProductionSupervisor(Sheet-metal)for Hyde Details isa keypart of the Management Team andisresponsible fortheday-to-dayproductionrequirements,working closely with the team leaders and production scheduler. You will report to the production managerandwhererequired, acting up in hisabsence.Aspart of the management team, it is expected that the person in postswill actprofessionally, with authority, byexample,and with best interestofHyde Details.

Main Duties
Safety: lead by example, promotes safety and preventsunsafeacts and behavior.
Quality: ensures thataerospace standardsofquality are met, takingappropriate actionsto improve quality.
Cost: must be commercially astute,eliminatewaste,allocateproductionrequirementseffectivelyand contribute tothe identification of / implementation of continuous improvement activities.
Delivery:it playsakeyrolein ensuringthat capacity is in place to discharge the operationsrequiredthrough each stage of the process.
People:createa positive, harmonious working environment that ensures wecanbestmeet ourclientsrequirements.
Sustainability:develop andmaintainan understanding of the ongoing activity toretainourenvironmentalaccreditation and actions to reduce waste / our impact on the environment.
Role Requirements:
Safety
Have a working understanding of health and safety best practice and legislation.
Lead by exampleand promote/ enforcesafeworkingpractices.
Ensure that H&S policies / memos are followed (inc. staff, visitors, contracts).
Prevent/ policeunsafe practice by operators.
Identifyopportunities for safer practice.
UndertakepersonalH&S trainingcourses / modules.
Support andmaintaina safety first philosophy.
Quality
Maintain an awareness ofthe IMS core procedures/general qualityrequirements within the aerospace and defence sectors.
Ensure that all operators understand the quality expectation / requirements.
Intervene to prevent quality issues.
Implement proactive steps to increase quality standards / outcomes.
Attend MRBfor sheet metal related items / issuesifrequired(in the absence of theProduction Manager).
Cost
Commercial awareness;developanunderstandingof theMRP system.
Monitoroperational times (op times/costs)and take actionsin the event ofexcessive labour costs.
Identifyand address issues that cause costing issues (scrap, labour times, OEE, poor practiceetc).
Ensure that leanmanufacturingoperational practices are in place and thatwastes(8 waste) are eliminated.
Review operational practices for cost efficiency and/oridentifyand explore better operational technology.
Delivery
Maintain anunderstanding ofour clients requirementstoensure that wecanmeet the level ofdelivery schedule adherence (DSA)targeted.
Production Work to list (WTL)requirements;ensure that collectively (Team leaders/operators) thesheet-metalproduction team areworking to theengaged and making the right decisions to achieve therequiredlevel of WTL DSAon a daily / weekly basis.
Capacity:ensure that we have therequiredcapacityin-placeto achievetheWTLdemands.
Work allocation; assess the work content so that work can beallocatedaccording to skill, training needs and to maximise the use of the capacity / resource available.
People
Create andmaintaina positive working culture to ensure that we maximise our output through work allocation, training and development and workplace enthusiasm.
Training/skillsdevelopment;using the skillsmatrixand by knowing your team,identifywhere training and development is needed to strengthen the team.
Trade tests:use the range of trade tests to support operator development, creatingadditionaltrade testswhererequired.
Communication / DSUMs; chair operators DSUMS to ensure that relevant information is communicated ina timely/ positive way to enhance the workplace culture. Take and respond to any actions arising from these meetings.
Charge hands / team-leaders;create,developand evolve a small team of charge hands / team leaders (where required)to take responsibility foridentifiedmanagement tasks within the business. Ensure that their job descriptions accurately reflect their agreed remit.
Sustainability
requirements of ISO14001;maintaina working understanding of the environmental accreditationin order tomakeappropriate dayto day decisions.
Regularly review activity within the factory with sustainability in mind,i.e.wasted resources, incorrect management of the disposal of waste etc.
Other
5S:ensure that 5S standard are in place, remain in place through training and that the 5S levels areaudited andreportedvia the correct media.
