Job Title: Production Team Leader (CNC / Precision Engineering)Location:Newcastle upon TyneSalary:£40,000 £45,000 per annum (Dependent on Experience)Job Type:Full-Time | PermanentThe OpportunityAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Production Team Leader to join a well-established and growing precision engineering business based in Newcastle upon Tyne.Operating within the oil & gas, petrochemical, and wider industrial sectors, the company specialises in the manufacture of high-specification whitemetal bearings for critical rotating equipment, supplying clients globally. With a strong emphasis on quality, precision, and on-time delivery, this is an opportunity to join a secure, forward-thinking organisation offering long-term career development.This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, made-to-order manufacturing environment and is confident taking full ownership of day-to-day production operations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead, manage, and motivate a team of 7 operators and 1 apprenticeTake full responsibility for daily production operations in a hands-on capacityPlan, prioritise, and coordinate workloads to meet production schedules and deadlinesDeliver against daily, weekly, and monthly production targetsConduct daily toolbox talks and team briefingsOversee CNC and manual machining processes, ensuring maximum efficiencyEnsure availability of materials, tooling, and resourcesCarry out final inspection and release of finished goods, including completion of inspection reportsEnsure compliance with health & safety regulations, COSHH, and risk assessmentsDrive continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and TPM activitiesManage training, competence, and performance of team membersInvestigate quality, safety, and performance issues using root cause analysisSupport and maintain the Quality Management SystemEssential Skills and ExperienceProven experience in a CNC Team Leader or similar supervisory roleStrong background in CNC and manual machining within a precision engineering environmentExperience working to tight tolerances (e.g. 0.02mm)Demonstrable experience managing team performance and absenceGood understanding of health & safety and modern manufacturing practicesStrong organisational, planning, and communication skillsExperience working within Lean or continuous improvement environmentsProficient in Microsoft OfficeExperience using ERP systemsAbout YouMinimum of 5 years experience within a fast-paced manufacturing or engineering environmentAbility to prioritise effectively and perform under pressureStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityA proactive and hands-on leader who leads by exampleExcellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop othersPositive, flexible, and driven attitudeDesirable ExperienceCNC programming experienceKnowledge of Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM, and KanbanWhats on OfferCompetitive salary of £40,000 £45,000 per annumPermanent, full-time positionOpportunity to join a growing and forward-thinking engineering businessModern manufacturing environment utilising ERP systems and data-driven processesThe opportunity to lead and develop a high-performing teamJBRP1_UKTJ
