Regional Projects Director - East Africa Join to apply for the Regional Projects Director - East Africa role at SRT Marine Systems plc. Role Overview The Regional Projects Director will be permanently based in Nairobi, Kenya and will manage SRT’s in‑country teams. The role is hands‑on, overseeing the planning, execution and delivery of complex multi‑site projects across East Africa, including data centres, control rooms, communication towers and commercial buildings, as well as the installation of sensitive electrical and communication systems. Key responsibilities include ensuring quality delivery within cost and time parameters, coordinating contractors and internal resources, maintaining accurate project plans and budgets, conducting site visits, overseeing construction and installation work, arranging customer training, and providing status updates to senior management. Work directly with end customers and internal partners to manage and drive the project delivery plan, ensuring quality of delivery within the cost and time parameters set by the Chief Operating Officer. Ensure that internal partners work in strict accordance with SRT systems delivery methods, providing training and ongoing guidance to ensure successful installation and commissioning of the entire system. Adopt a holistic project implementation approach so that the finished system installation meets contracted specifications and no details are missed, ensuring complete end customer satisfaction. Collaborate with the Delivery Department to continuously maintain and manage an accurate project plan and budget. Make frequent visits to customer countries and sites to review and manage activities, progress and maintain alignment in understanding of project status, and to communicate and agree any changes in the project plan. Manage and oversee construction, installation and configuration work done by internal partners and third parties. Arrange training for customers and internal partners, liaising with the Delivery Team to ensure delivery of training according to the agreed plan and contract requirements. Provide clear and concise updates to SRT management on status, progress and potential risks and issues to ensure successful delivery of the project.
Experience & Qualifications
Exceptionally experienced in a hands‑on approach to projects and programme management, with involvement in day‑to‑day installation and troubleshooting activities. A civil engineering and/or IT networking background and/or qualification – degree. Capability to understand system drawings down to installation design drawings (racks, servers, cameras, radar, civil work) and act as the in‑country conduit between local partners/customers and our technical teams. Adept at diplomatically influencing without authority, with strong intercultural empathy to adapt approaches while ensuring target outcomes. Willingness to travel globally for extended periods; the role is primarily based in-country with short trips back to the UK during project execution.
