As Programme Director, you will lead multi-service line programme portfolios, providing senior governance, commercial leadership and delivery assurance. You will set design delivery governance across portfolios, promote buildability and innovation, and ensure consistent change control, information management and quality assurance across service lines. The ideal candidate should have a proven background in successfully delivering various data centre and mission critical projects ranging from upfront planning and pre-design activities through detail design, construction support and commissioning. This position is an opportunity to join one of the largest, fastest growing, and comprehensive practices in the industry. In addition to managing and delivery projects (which is the primary focus of this role), the successful candidate must possess the drive, experience and charisma needed to develop and secure work from a robust global client base and expand upon HDR’s reputation within these markets. This individual will manage multi-disciplinary design teams from project conception to completion. Keen focus on organizational skills and follow-through are required to be successful in this role. This person will work closely with the Regional and Area Building Engineering Services Business Group Managers as well as our global TMT client management team and Country Director of Operations. Some travel to client sites or other HDR offices is required. Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate on development strategies, new business prospects, technical services, quality, and production methods and standards, to achieve the established goals and objectives of the business group, region and company.
General Duties
Support practice leadership with strategic planning, operational metrics and performance reporting. Drive community-of-practice learning for delivery (templates, playbooks, lessons learnt), including design management best practice. Support training and succession planning to enhance performance and ensure future expertise. Represent the business in key internal forums and client governance boards as required. Ensure professional obligations, duty of care and ethical standards are upheld across the portfolio. Line management of Project Managers within programme. Control project budget, scope, and schedule. Ensure product deliverables meet quality standards. Forecasting, invoicing and contract management. Promote HDR through regular client interface. Staff recruiting working closely with the Business Group Manager. Create vital proposal content including scope, schedule and budget. Lead HDR at interview presentations. Work cooperatively with local office leads, other business group leads, technical directors and marketing managers.
Skills & Requirements
Exceptional leadership and executive stakeholder management skills. Strong facilitation capability to set governance standards and drive consistent ways of working. Expert commercial leadership including margin, cash, forecasting and contract strategy. Strong programme governance and risk management across multiple service lines. Advanced proficiency in MS Office and MS Project; portfolio reporting capability advantageous.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. 15+ years industry experience; significant senior project and portfolio leadership experience. Minimum 7 years project management experience, including leadership of multi-discipline teams. Chartered Engineer (CEng) required. Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills. Commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
