Project Delivery Manager

Job Description
THE ROLE
Are you the kind of person who can look at a job and immediately see how it needs to be done? Do you instinctively understand what materials, tools and skills will be required? Are you practical, decisive and commercially aware?
We are looking for a Project Delivery Manager to join our team managing small works commercial installation projects.
This is not a corporate project management role.
Our projects are typically short-duration, high-volume commercial installations. We are often on site for less than a day with project values typically around £5,000 to £50,000. Your responsibility is to decide what needs to be done, how we will do it, what materials and equipment are required, and how the job will be delivered safely and efficiently.
DAY TO DAY
Once a project is handed over from sales, you will:
- Review scope and sense-check installation methods
- Carry out site surveys where required
- Accurately determine materials, sundries and equipment requirements
- Plan labour (numbers, skills, sequencing)
- Identify and plan for specialist manufacturing or subcontract needs
- Plan logistics (vehicle requirements, depot vs direct-to-site delivery)
- Prepare risk assessments and method statements
- Create a fully costed project delivery plan for release to operations
You will confirm delivery dates with the customer and remain accountable through to completion.
Our purchasing, production, warehouse and installation teams focus on delivery — guided by the plan you create. The stronger your planning, the fewer operational queries you will receive.
This is a high-volume role overseeing multiple live projects at any one time. Organisation, foresight and practical judgement are essential.
ABOUT YOU
You will have strong practical installation literacy and understand tools, materials, sequencing and site constraints instinctively.
You may have worked as:
- An Installation Supervisor
- A Fit-Out or Shopfitting Supervisor
- A Small Works Contracts Manager
- A Works Manager or Delivery Manager
- An experienced installer ready to step into planning
Hands-on industry experience is preferred. However, candidates with extensive practical project experience and deep working knowledge of installation methods will also be considered.
You must be able to visualise delivery before it begins, identify requirements accurately, and produce clear, workable plans while managing multiple short-duration projects.
THE BACKGROUND
Plant Plan has been very successful in business for almost 50 years. The past 10 years in particular have seen significant growth and the business has evolved into the UK’s leading expert in our field.
As we continue to strengthen our delivery standards and operational processes, this role — whether you see it as Technical Installations Manager, Installation Planning Manager or Small Works Delivery Manager — is central to ensuring our installations are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.
If you are looking for a role where your practical knowledge genuinely shapes how work gets delivered, this is it.
