We are working with a well-established engineering business seeking a Project Design Engineer based in Ipswich. This is an excellent, diverse role for someone who can work independently and as part of a team, providing mechanical design and engineering support across the business while contributing to product development and technical advancement.
Key responsibilities are:
* Produce 3D CAD models (Autodesk Inventor) and 2D drawings (AutoCAD)
* Ensure designs are manufacturable and meet functional requirements.
* Manage projects from sales order to commissioning, including BOMs, layout drawings, and specifications.
* Undertake in-house testing, support factory testing, and assist with on-site commissioning.
* Provide technical support for internal teams, service engineers, and client queries.
* Prepare and maintain project documentation, spares drawings, and O&M manuals, ensuring compliance.
* Assist with inspections and warranty investigations as required.
Candidate requirements:
* Previous experience in a mechanical design engineering role
* Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, or similar.
* Strong mathematics and physics skills.
* Proficient in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
* Organised, methodical, and able to work independently.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

37.5 hours per week with half day on Friday. Salary according to experience
