Project Engineer

Our client in the Northeast is looking for a HV Project Engineer. As the HV & MV Project Engineer is responsible for the safe, compliant, and timely delivery of high-voltage and medium-voltage electrical projects. This includes the design coordination, planning, execution, commissioning, and handover of electrical infrastructure works in line with statutory, contractual, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage HV and MV electrical projects from design through to commissioning and handover
* Support development of project scope, programmes, budgets, and risk assessments
* Coordinate internal teams, contractors, DNOs/IDNOs, ICPs, and other stakeholders
* Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards Review and approve HV/MV designs, calculations, protection settings, and drawings
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. ENA, IEC, BS, HSG, Electricity at Work Regulations)
* Oversee installation of substations, switchgear, transformers, cables, and associated equipment
* Act as a technical point of contact for clients and external partners
* Attend project meetings and provide clear progress and technical updates
* Support client handover, documentation, and close-out activities
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience delivering HV and/or MV electrical projects
* Strong understanding of electrical distribution networks (11kV–132kV or similar)
* Experience working with DNOs, ICPs, utilities, or private networks
* Knowledge of UK electrical standards and safety legislation
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
* Previous Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person experience
* Experience in renewables, EV infrastructure, data centres, or large infrastructure projects
* Design capability or coordination experience
* Commercial awareness and contract management exposure
Qualifications
* Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
