Project Manager – Water & Wastewater (Civil Engineering)
Summary
This is an opportunity for a proactive Project Manager to take ownership of complex infrastructure projects, working in a technically demanding and highly regulated environment, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational performance.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role involves full responsibility for planning, coordinating, and executing civil engineering works safely, on time, and within budget.
You will manage the entire project lifecycle—from early design and contract administration through to construction, commissioning, and final handover—ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring close coordination of multidisciplinary teams and contractors. You will proactively manage risks, oversee site activities in live operational environments, and maintain strong stakeholder relationships while ensuring high-quality, long-lasting project outcomes with minimal disruption to services.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver civil engineering projects within the water/wastewater sector
* Manage project programmes, budgets, risks, and site operations
* Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts effectively
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
* Lead and coordinate contractors and internal teams
* Oversee works in live operational environments
Requirements
* Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related field
* Around 5+ years’ experience delivering projects in the water industry
* Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction methods
* Proven experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts
* Understanding of HSE regulations and quality standards
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
* CSCS card and relevant safety qualifications (e.g. SMSTS or IOSH)
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
* Working toward or holding professional accreditation (e.g. ICE)
