Job Description

Established in 2003 our client is a highly professional contractor with extensive experience in the earthworks industry.\n\nThe Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of earthworks, demolition, and enabling works projects from pre-construction through to completion. The role involves managing site operations, programme, commercial performance, health and safety compliance, and client relationships to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProject Delivery\n\nManage earthworks and excavation projects from mobilisation to completion.\n\nDevelop and maintain project programmes and ensure milestones are achieved.\n\nCoordinate site teams, subcontractors, and plant to ensure efficient project delivery.\n\nEnsure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.\n\nHealth & Safety\n\nPromote and enforce company health, safety, and environmental policies.\n\nEnsure all works comply with relevant legislation and CDM regulations.\n\nReview and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).\n\nConduct regular site inspections and safety audits.\n\nCommercial Management\n\nMonitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance.\n\nWork closely with the commercial team on valuations, variations, and cost control.\n\nManage subcontractor packages and procurement of materials and plant.\n\nEnsure projects are delivered within agreed commercial targets.\n\nClient & Stakeholder Management\n\nAct as the primary point of contact for clients and consultants.\n\nAttend site meetings and provide progress reports.\n\nMaintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders.\n\nPlanning & Coordination\n\nCoordinate site logistics, plant utilisation, and labour resources.\n\nManage earthworks sequencing including cut & fill operations, soil stabilisation, and material movements.\n\nLiaise with engineering and surveying teams regarding levels, volumes, and site measurements.\n\nQuality & Compliance\n\nEnsure all works meet required quality standards and specifications.\n\nOversee site documentation including reports, permits, and compliance records.\n\nEnsure environmental and sustainability requirements are adhered to.\n\nKey Skills & Experience\n\nProven experience managing earthworks, groundworks, or civil engineering projects.\n\nStrong understanding of bulk excavation, site clearance, and infrastructure works.\n\nExperience managing subcontractors and site teams.\n\nExcellent communication and leadership skills.\n\nStrong commercial awareness and cost management ability.\n\nQualifications\n\nDegree / HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar ().\n\nSMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).\n\nCSCS Card (Black / Professional).\n\nTemporary Works / First Aid (desirable).\n\nFull UK driving licence.\n\nInreturn they offer excellent salary and beneefits packages
