Job Description
Our client, a leading Design & Build contractor within the water sector are seeking an experienced Project Manager near Nottingham.\n\nThis is a full time position, sponsorship cannot be offered so candidates must have full RTW in the UK.\n\n Role Overview\n Manage and deliver mechanical and electrical projects within the water and wastewater sector. Responsible for planning, budgeting, resource management, and client liaison, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards. Regular site visits and occasional overnight stays are required.\n\n Key Responsibilities\n \nLead water industry projects from contract award to completion and handover.
\nDevelop and manage project programmes, budgets, and resource allocation. \nEnsure compliance with WIMES, BS 7671, and client specifications. \nOversee site activities, coordinating engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
\nPrepare and manage project documentation: RAMS, progress reports, quality records. \nConduct site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure safety and quality. \nAct as primary client contact, building strong relationships.
\nManage procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services. \nMonitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies. \nSupport commissioning, testing, and handover processes.
\nPromote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture. Required Knowledge & Skills\n \nStrong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, MCCs, pipework, and instrumentation. \nProven project management, financial oversight, and contract management skills.
\nExcellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities. \nAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead teams effectively. \nCommercially aware with strong planning and organisational skills.
\nProactive, solution-focused, and committed to quality and safety. Experience & Qualifications\n\n Essential:\n \nDegree or HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). \nSignificant experience managing projects in the water industry, utilities, or heavy engineering.
\nFamiliarity with WIMES specifications and client standards. \nFull UK driving licence and willingness to travel. Desirable:\n \nProfessional Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
\nSMSTS or site safety management training. \nEUSR Water Hygiene and confined space training. \nExperience with MS Project, Primavera, or other planning software.
\nExperience leading multi-disciplinary M&E teams
