Overview of Project Quality Engineer Role
A Global Wolverhampton-based Engineering and Manufacturing Company is seeking an experienced Project Quality Engineer to support quality delivery across complex electromechanical machinery, mechanical handling & engineered process systems for regulated industries .

The manufacturing processes involve Machining, Welding & Heavy Fabrication so this Project Quality Engineer role suits someone who understands how quality must be controlled within a project-based Engineering & Manufacturing environment, involving similar manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities of Project Quality Engineer
Project Quality Planning
Develop and deliver Project Quality Plans aligned to contractual and technical requirements
Review client specifications and turn them into clear quality deliverables
Review and approve MITPs for electromechanical machinery, machined parts, welded structures, and fabricated assemblies
Create contract specific procedures to support consistent project execution
Provide quality input during tendering, risk reviews, and early planning stages
Supplier Quality and Compliance
Review and approve supplier documentation including MITPs, procedures, and certifications
Attend supplier kick off meetings and carry out surveillance across machining, welding, and fabrication processes
Monitor supplier quality performance and ensure adherence to project requirements
Manage supplier non conformances with clear investigation and timely corrective actions
Communicate supplier performance, risks, and status updates across the project team
Project Assurance, Documentation, and Closeout
Manage project non conformances and ensure robust resolution
Support internal audits and contribute to maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards
Compile and issue accurate lifetime records for customer acceptance
Represent quality during client reviews, project progress meetings, and technical discussions
Drive improvements across documentation, quality processes, and project governance based on lessons learned
About You
You are an experienced Project Quality Engineer who enjoys working closely with engineering, suppliers, and project teams. You understand electromechanical machinery plus CNC machining, welding, and fabrication processes. You take pride in structured planning, accurate documentation, and proactive communication.
You are methodical, calm under pressure, and focused on ensuring projects meet demanding quality and compliance expectations.

Requirements for Project Quality Engineer Role
Experience in project quality within a regulated engineering environment
Understanding of electromechanical machinery or engineered process systems
Experience with CNC machining, welded fabrications, and complex assemblies
Knowledge of ISO 9001 with ideally EN 3834 or EN 1090
Experience producing Project Quality Plans and reviewing MITPs
Structured problem solving skills such as 8D, 5S, or Six Sigma
Confidence liaising with clients and suppliers
Competent user of Microsoft Office
Ability to secure BPSS and SC clearance
Engineering or Quality related qualification desirable
