The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and deliver of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.
Psychologists are members of the Social Health team (comprised of care coordinators, support workers, counsellors) that are embedded within a Primary Health Care Clinic that provides a comprehensive range of primary and specialist care services, including but not limited to GP, Allied Health, Psychiatry, Family Wellbeing, NDIS services and assessments, Maternity and Paediatric services. Psychologists work actively with these other disciplines to ensure that the needs of clients are met in a truly holistic way.
About the Role?
We are looking for a passionate part-time or full-timePsychologist to join our Social Health team. The successful applicant will provide culturally appropriate clinical care and support to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, parents and families. This role is focused on culturally appropriate, family-centred assessment and therapeutic care, and will include flexible service delivery during COVID-19. Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking comprehensive assessment of the social and mental health needs of clients to assist in the provision of therapeutic support to clients
- Providing informal and formal psychological assessments and liaising with multidisciplinary paediatric health service team
- Provision of an ecological framework of assessment and therapeutic practice that is flexible to the needs of community.
- Provision of psychological short- and long- term interventions to children, parents and their families, utilising attachment-based, trauma- and developmentally-informed therapeutic approaches
- Provision of interventions under participants NDIS plans including cognitive assessments.
- Managing and prioritising a caseload.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive client files, which include documentation relating to assessment, treatment planning and feedback.
- Maximise Medicare Billings through effective clinic and records processes
About You
- Current AHPRA registration with Psychology Board Australia (General registration)
- Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of direction and to effectively communicate with and work collaboratively as part of a team, and to contribute to the development of creative and innovative services
- Current Drivers Licenceand a willingness to travel across South East Queensland if/as needed.
