About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Psychology graduate to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to apply their knowledge of human behaviour and development in a practical setting, while gaining hands-on experience supporting learners with diverse needs, including special educational needs (SEN) in mainstream Primary schools.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
Assist in implementing personalised learning and behaviour support plans using evidence-based strategies
Support students’ emotional, social, and academic development
Apply understanding of behaviour and learning to promote positive engagement and wellbeing
Observe, monitor, and record student progress, identifying patterns and areas for development
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and external professionals
Help create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment
About You:
A degree in Psychology (or a related field)
Strong understanding of child development, human behaviour and learning processes
Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
High levels of empathy and emotional intelligence
Ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations
Strong observational and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to respond to individual student needs
Genuine interest in supporting individuals with additional needs and inclusive education
Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries (desirable)
Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
