Purchasing Lead£34,000 per annumMonday - Friday8.00 to 16.00Permanent roleMy long standing and award-winning client is seeking a Purchasing Lead to manage all purchasing activities, ensuring cost control, supplier performance, quality compliance, and material availability to support production and growth.Candidate Profile:5+ years experience in manufacturing purchasing (automotive/aerospace preferred)Strong negotiation and commercial skillsMRP/ERP system experience essentialData-driven, organised, and proactiveConfident working in a fast-paced SME environmentStrong communication and problem-solving skillsProficient in MS OfficeKey Responsibilities:Strategic ProcurementDevelop and deliver purchasing strategy aligned to business goalsDrive cost reduction and value engineering initiativesLead supplier negotiations (price, terms, agreements)Benchmark raw material pricing (stainless, inconel, aluminium, consumables)Support expansion into aerospace, defence, and regulated sectorsOperational PurchasingManage purchase orders in line with MRP requirementsMonitor supplier schedules and ensure on-time delivery (OTIF)Expedite critical materials as neededMaintain accurate system data (lead times, MOQ, pricing)Supplier ManagementBuild and manage supplier relationships and performanceConduct supplier reviews and support corrective actionsIdentify and onboard new suppliers to reduce risk and costCost & Inventory ControlControl spend in line with budget and cash flow targetsNegotiate payment terms and identify cost-saving opportunitiesOptimise stock levels and reduce working capitalOversee stock takes, cycle counts, and discrepancy resolutionFinancial & Cross-Functional SupportProvide cost data (pricing, forecasts, freight, duties) to FinanceSupport standard costing and budgeting processesWork closely with Production, Engineering, and NPI teamsReport purchasing performance to senior managementCompliance & RiskEnsure ethical procurement and supplier complianceMitigate supply chain risks and maintain traceabilitySupport contingency planning for supply disruptionCRC Recruitment are a leading Midlands based recruitment consultancy covering vacancies across the UK.
