Job Description

We are working with a well-established, forward-thinking engineering and manufacturing organisation to recruit a Quality Engineer to join their Rugby-based operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with a strong background in quality and production engineering to play a key role in maintaining and improving robust quality standards within a complex manufacturing environment.


The Role


As Quality Engineer, you will take ownership of day-to-day quality activities, ensuring processes are consistently followed and continuously improved. You will be instrumental in driving root cause analysis and leading structured problem-solving activities across both internal and supplier-related issues.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, building strong relationships across the business to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) remains effective, compliant, and aligned with operational goals.


Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures across manufacturing operations
  • Lead the resolution of non-conformances using structured root cause analysis (e.g. 8D, A3, 5 Whys, Ishikawa)
  • Manage quality documentation, reports, and corrective/preventative action records
  • Support APQP activities, FMEA processes, and the development of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Monitor key quality metrics, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to operational teams on quality standards and best practices
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and internal stakeholders to reduce defects and improve performance


About You


  • Background in mechanical or electrical engineering (or similar discipline)
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment, including inspection and measurement techniques
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Proven experience applying root cause analysis tools (8D essential) to resolve quality issues
  • Good working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and auditing practices
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Hands-on, practical approach with strong problem-solving capability
  • Comfortable working with IT systems, including Microsoft Office and ERP platforms


Desirable


  • Experience with rotating machinery
  • Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
