Inspector – Quality Team (Manufacturing) Location: Barnsley Hours:
Days Mon-Thurs 06:00 – 16:30 including a 30 minute unpaid dinner break and a 15 minute paid tea break
Afters Mon-Thurs 12:00 – 22:30 including a 30 minute unpaid dinner break and a 15 minute paid tea break

We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Inspector to join the quality team at a busy manufacturing facility in Barnsley. Our client specialises in producing products for industries including mining, marine, construction, and nuclear applications.
As an Inspector, you will play a key role in supporting both the Quality and Production departments. You will carry out chemical analysis tests, dimensional “first off” checks, patrol and final inspections of lead-based components, and produce accurate reports for internal and customer use. Key Responsibilities:
Inspection and Reporting
Conduct internal chemical analysis of melts, verify results against specifications, and generate 3.1 material certificates

Perform dimensional inspections using tools such as micrometres, digital calipers, protractors, radius gauges, and rules

Record inspection results, maintain accurate documentation, and generate reports

Drawing Interpretation
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to understand part requirements

Equipment Calibration
Ensure all measuring equipment is calibrated and in good working order

Non-Conformance Handling
Identify and report quality issues, document non-conforming parts, and assist in root cause analysis when required

Safety & Compliance
Follow internal safety procedures, maintain a safe work environment, and report near-miss incidents

Continuous Improvement
Support initiatives to enhance inspection processes and product quality

Required Qualifications & Skills:
GCSEs in Maths and Science (or equivalent)

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Competent in manual measurement techniques

Knowledge of non-conformance reporting and calibration procedures is advantageous

Strong attention to detail and accurate reporting skills

Effective written and verbal communication

Personal Attributes:

Quality-focused with professional work ethic

Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

Willing to learn and develop
