Quality Inspector new vacancy following planned retirement
Located: 6 miles from Wincanton, Somerset
£35,000 to£40,000 + Overtime (can reach mid-£40,000+)

This is a rare opportunity to join a friendly, well-established precision engineering business with a long-standing and secure customer baseoperating inthe aerospace sector. Working to AS9100D standards and supporting long-term, high-profile contracts, the company is consistently busy and enjoys a strong order book.

This vacancy has arisen due to the planned retirement of a long-serving and valued member of the team. As a result, the business is looking for someone who not only takes pride in quality and precision, but who would also enjoy becoming part of a close-knit team of 12 skilled and experienced engineers. A full and supportive handover will be provided from day one to ensure you feel confident and well prepared.

Your application will be warmly welcomed if you are an experienced Quality Inspector or if you are a skilled CNC Machinist who would like to move into inspection. Whether you are building on you existing inspection experience or making a career move from machining into quality, full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Benefits
We're looking to offer a basic salary £35,000 to £40,000 but please get in touch with your requirements
Overtime readily available, with realistic earnings into the mid-£40,000s and beyond
Enhanced overtime rates: 1.33 Monday to Thursday
1.5 on Fridays after 12:30 and Saturdays

Your role
This is a hands-on inspection role within a busy but supportive environment where quality is central to everything the company does.
You will be responsible for:
First Off, In-Process, Goods In and Final Inspections against customer drawings and specifications
Producing accurate First Article Inspection Reports using Net Inspect
Measuring and verifying components using CMMs, micrometers, vernier callipers and other precision metrology equipment
Inspecting surface finishes including paint and anodising
Ensuring outgoing parts are correctly inspected and fully documented
Working closely with Production and Engineering colleagues to resolve any quality concerns
Supporting corrective actions and continuous improvement
Managing gauge calibration and maintaining accurate records
You will be working alongside an experienced machining team operating CNC mills and lathes with Fanuc controls, including Doosan Puma and Lynx machines, as well as Goodway and Bridgeport equipment. The variety of work and high standards make this a technically engaging and rewarding position.

About You
The business is open-minded about background and experience. Applications are encouraged from:
Experienced Quality Inspectors, ideally from an aerospace precision engineering environment
or
Skilled CNC Machinists with strong drawing interpretation skills who are ready to move into inspection
If you are already an Inspector, you will receive full training on company-specific equipment, reporting systems and processes.
If you are a CNC Machinist looking to transition into quality, you will be given structured, patient and supportive training on inspection techniques, CMM operation, reporting requirements and AS9100D standards.
You will ideally bring:
Experience within aerospace manufacturing
Familiarity with AS9100D standards
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Strong attention to detail and pride in your work
Experience with precision measurement equipment, or the aptitude and enthusiasm to learn
Good IT skills, including Microsoft software
