The Quality Department plays a vital role in ensuring Sonardyne delivers reliable, compliant, and customer-focused products and services. By maintaining robust quality management systems and enabling continuous improvement, the team supports the business in achieving high standards of operational performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
We are looking for an experienced Quality & Process Manager to lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of quality and process management systems across Sonardynes global operations. This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring ISO 9001 compliance, driving risk-based thinking and continuous improvement, and providing strong, visible quality leadership across the business.
If you join, you will be responsible for:
Quality Management & Certification Lead and maintain ISO 9001 compliance across all global Sonardyne sites

Drive proactive quality management using best-practice methodologies such as APQP

Ensure quality systems support product excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction

Process Management Support the development and rollout of process management across all departments

Own and develop the Promapp process management system and Process Documentation Centre (PDC)

Deliver training and reporting on process performance and effectiveness

Data, KPIs & Analytics Provide quality and process analytics to support informed decision-making

Own and maintain Quality Department KPIs, driving improvement initiatives based on performance trends

Quality Incident & Risk Management Act as an escalation point for quality incidents across engineering, production, projects, and customer service

Ensure structured problem-solving approaches (e.g. 8D, DMAIC) are consistently applied

Customer & Contract Quality Drive improvements in customer satisfaction through effective complaint resolution and reporting

Provide specialist quality input for customer audits, contract requirements, and pre-qualification questionnaires

Act as the primary interface with customer quality representatives

Support the development of quality plans for specific projects and contracts

Audits & Compliance Plan, coordinate, and deliver the internal audit programme

Conduct internal system audits and report findings with clear improvement recommendations

Interface with external and customer auditors as required

Continuous Improvement & Communication Champion continuous improvement initiatives across the business

Deliver coaching and training on quality tools and techniques

Maintain and develop quality-related intranet content to support visibility and engagement

Leadership Lead and develop quality team members

Deputise for the Quality Manager when required

Ideally : You are a confident and influential quality professional with a strong track record in engineering or manufacturing environments. You are comfortable challenging constructively, influencing across functions, and leading change in complex organisations.
Essential Skills & Experience Minimum 5 years experience in a quality role within engineering, manufacturing, marine, or defence sectors

Proven experience driving continuous improvement and structured problem solving

Working knowledge of IT-based Quality Management Systems (e.g. Promapp, QPulse, MasterControl)

Strong understanding and practical application of APQP

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint

Relevant degree or equivalent experience

Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001 or equivalent)

It would be a bonus if you had : Experience with complex electro-mechanical manufacturing

Practical application of quality improvement tools and EFQM

Experience developing or supporting quality software tools

Bachelors degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred)

Membership of CQI or ASQ
