Job Description
Job Specification – Quality Manager
Location: East Kilbride, Scotland
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum
Sector: Food Manufacturing
Reporting to: Technical Manager / Senior Leadership Team
Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Manager to lead the QA and Hygiene teams at our East Kilbride food manufacturing site. This role is responsible for ensuring all products meet the highest standards of quality and food safety, while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and team development.
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of implementing robust quality standards in previous roles, coaching and developing teams effectively, and challenging existing processes to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop QA and Hygiene teams to maintain consistent high-quality standards. Implement and drive training programs to ensure all staff are competent in quality and food safety procedures. Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement across the site.
Quality Management & Compliance
Maintain, enhance, and embed the site’s Quality Management System (QMS) in line with legislative and industry standards. Oversee all quality and food safety checks, ensuring timely corrective actions and preventative measures. Ensure operational procedures and protocols consistently comply with regulatory requirements.
Performance Monitoring & Improvement
Define, monitor, and analyze KPIs to assess quality performance and identify improvement opportunities. Lead investigations into quality issues, implementing sustainable solutions. Introduce best-practice standards from previous roles to elevate operational performance and consistency.
Audits & Assurance
Prepare for and lead internal and external audits, including third-party and customer audits. Confidently challenge practices where quality may be compromised, safeguarding product standards.
Person Specification – Ideal Candidate
Essential Experience & Skills
Extensive experience in Quality Management within food manufacturing, ideally in high-volume production or supply to major retailers. Proven track record of implementing quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives successfully. Strong knowledge of HACCP, BRC, ISO, or equivalent food safety and quality frameworks. Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and developing multi-disciplinary teams. Confident in challenging processes and driving operational excellence. Experience in audit management, corrective actions, and KPI monitoring.
