Job Description

A well-established fit‑out and construction group delivering well‑crafted commercial spaces across the UK. The team takes a practical, straightforward approach to projects, working closely with clients, designers, and supply chain partners to get things right first time. With a focus on quality, clear communication, and reliable delivery, the business has built a reputation for creating spaces that work well, look good, and stand the test of time.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWork closely with the wider commercial and project teams to ensure maximum profitability, minimise cost and risk, and enhance value for money across all construction projects — all while maintaining legal, safety, and quality standards.

Provide guidance and support to the project finance team, continually review processes for efficiency, and act as a role model within the commercial function.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Accurately and thoroughly compare subcontractor prices, working with the Contracts Manager to select the most suitable partners for each project\n\n * Maintain strong financial control of all projects to ensure target margins are achieved or improved\n\n * Value and certify subcontractor works, oversee invoices and applications for payment, and arrange timely payments\n\n * Produce valuations and applications for payment to the client, raising client invoices once agreed\n\n * Identify opportunities for value engineering to improve margin, programme, and reduce risk\n\n * Build and maintain relationships with key consultants and architects to support business development\n\n * Develop relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to strengthen and diversify the supply chain\n\n * Understand client requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure proposals are viable\n\n * Maintain awareness of different building contracts and their application\n\n * Ensure timely cost and value reporting to support accurate cashflow forecasting\n\n * Manage cost control, forecasting, and reconciliation of CVRs\n\n * Attend site meetings, manage change control, and obtain/provide variation confirmations\n\n * Correctly apply the terms of the main contract, including notices, confirmations, and authorities\n\n * Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the wider project finance team\n\nAbout You – Skills & Experience\n\n * Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline\n\n * Proven experience in a Pre‑Contracts, Contracts Manager, or Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within commercial design & build or fit‑out\n\n * Strong cost‑planning experience with the ability to value engineer designs\n\n * Solid working knowledge of construction and fit‑out processes\n\n * Demonstrable track record of delivering strong commercial outcomes\n\n * Creative and innovative approach to problem‑solving\n\n * Excellent relationship‑building and interpersonal skills\n\n * Team‑focused with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels\n\n * Strong negotiation skills with commercial awareness\n\n * Good understanding of mechanical and electrical disciplines\n\n * Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and current building regulations\n\n * Full (ideally clean) driving licence\n\nFor further information, please apply with a CV
