Quantity Surveyor
Location: Bournemouth, UK
Employment Type: Permanent
We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to support a leading contractor in the water sector. You will provide commercial and cost‑management expertise across project delivery, ensuring strong contract compliance and value for money within an NEC‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets and cost plans.
Produce detailed bills of quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and tender documentation.
Track project expenditure and provide regular cost reports to senior management (excluding forecasting duties).
Analyse cost variances and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents and evaluating contractor submissions.
Conduct cost negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, and contractors.
Assist in selecting contractors and preparing contractual agreements.
Administer NEC contracts across the project lifecycle, ensuring full compliance with contract conditions and procedures.
Prepare valuations, progress claims, and payment applications.
Manage change control processes and produce accurate compensation events and final accounts.
Support project managers and site teams with cost and commercial insights.
Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Provide advice on procurement strategies, project risks, and commercial considerations.
Maintain accurate project records, cost schedules, and documentation.
Produce financial reports and ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional membership (RICS or working toward Chartership) .
Experience within the UK construction or utilities sectors; water-sector experience advantageous.
Strong expertise in NEC contract administration.
Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
Proficient in MS Office; experience with cost‑management software is an advantage.
Full UK driving licence .
