Working on behalf of a well-established and growing groundworks contractor, currently looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable contractor delivering high-quality groundworks and civil engineering packages across residential and commercial developments, with the added benefit of gaining exposure to estimating as part of the role. The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple groundworks projects from pre-contract through to final account. Youll work closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on budget and in line with contractual requirements. You will also have the opportunity to support the pre-construction team, gaining valuable experience in estimating and tendering activities. Key Responsibilities Managing project costs from inception to completion Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating subcontractor packages Valuations, variations, and final accounts Cost reporting and forecasting Liaising with clients, site teams, and commercial management Ensuring compliance with contractual terms and risk management Supporting tendering, pricing, and estimating activities Assisting with procurement strategies What we are looking for in the successful candidate: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within groundworks or civil engineering Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts Commercially astute with excellent negotiation skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Degree in Quantity Surveying What our client can offer in return: Salary up to £60k DOE Working hours Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm Opportunity to join a stable and growing contractor Exposure to estimating and pre-construction, supporting career development Long-term career progression Supportive and collaborative working environment Profit share scheme after 12 months service
